LMS Energy is Australia’s largest emissions reducer and the national leader in biogas-to-energy and solar on landfill. LMS requires the services of a full-time or part-time Senior Planner in Prospect, South Australia.

As part of our team, you will lead planning and approvals from securing key development consents and environmental approvals to managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring smooth, timely project delivery. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end to end planning approvals process for innovative renewable and circular economy projects across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring all statutory and environmental consents are secured efficiently. 
  • Prepare, review, and submit detailed development applications, environmental assessments, and supporting documentation that align with state and local planning frameworks. 
  • Coordinate and oversee external consultants and multidisciplinary teams, including environmental, heritage, and engineering experts, to deliver comprehensive and compliant planning solutions. 
  • Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with planning and environmental conditions throughout  project lifecycles, mitigating risks and facilitating smooth project progression.  
  • Lead and manage all stakeholder engagement and community consultation, representing LMS Energy professionally at public forums to build trust, foster transparency, and ensure timely project approvals.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Development, Engineering, and Compliance teams; develop and monitor project schedules, and provide timely planning updates and reports to facilitate smooth project delivery.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage subdivision, easement, and other planning-related applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and LMS documentation standards.
  • Analyse and interpret complex planning policies and technical reports to provide strategic advice that supports business objectives and sustainable development goals.
  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, landowners, and community groups, advocating LMS Energy’s vision and interests effectively.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing complex planning approvals, preferably in renewable energy, infrastructure, or circular economy projects
  • Proven expertise in project planning applications, including preparation, negotiation, and securing statutory and environmental consents
  • Strong stakeholder management and community consultation skills, with the ability to represent projects effectively to government agencies, local councils, and community groups
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in early-stage project design and assessment, integrating planning insights to support innovative and sustainable outcomes
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and strategic thinking
  • Australian Drivers Licence
