LMS Energy is Australia’s largest emissions reducer and the national leader in biogas-to-energy and solar on landfill. LMS requires the services of a full-time or part-time Health & Safety Systems and Governance Specialist in Brisbane, Queensland.  

As part of our team, you will collaborate with the Group Manager – Health & Safety where your role will primarily involve leading the continuous improvement, governance, and compliance of LMS’ Health & Safety Management System (HSMS). This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the HSMS and its supporting processes, including the configuration and management of digital safety platforms

Responsibilities:

  • Design Health and Safety (H&S) systems to support the management of health and safety risks across operations, construction and joint ventures.
  • Ensure the HSMS practically supports the business needs, drives continuous improvement in performance and ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the ongoing development and revision of the HSMS including development and maintenance of policies, procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Foster collaborative efforts to identify and implement leading best practice and practical solutions.
  • Configure, test and maintain digital solutions including contractor management, hazard and incident management, assurance and communication/consultation processes.
  • Oversee and support the development of health and safety performance reporting and analytics across all business activities.
  • Establish and oversee a H&S Assurance, Governance and Compliance programs to ensure contractual, regulatory and legislative requirements are met and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Support the development of contemporary processes to enhance knowledge and embed new processes.
  • Provide technical support to ensure legislative compliance across all jurisdictions.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor leaders on WHS matters, legislative requirements, organisational procedures and processes, and best practice principles.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or related discipline, or Cert IV Workplace Health & Safety
  • AIHS Certified is desirable
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Proven ability in system mapping and design to ensure legislative compliance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of contemporary Health & Safety Systems (high-risk industries), standards and key risk management and assurance processes.
  • Some intrastate and interstate travel
  • Australian Drivers Licence
