Reporting directly to Group Leader – Engineering this role will play a key role in enabling the Engineering team to deliver on objectives through effective support and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide visible and strong leadership across relevant commissioning stakeholders including contractors, OEMs and vendors, setting clear expectations for safety, discipline, and performance
  • Plan, organise, and lead commissioning activities from pre‑commissioning through to completion across various project delivery models
  • Develop, maintain and execute in accordance with structured commissioning plans
  • Develop commissioning documentation, including checklists, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Field Installation Checklists (FICs) defined hold/witness points and other relevant construction and commissioning QA documentation.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops with internal and external stakeholders where relating to commissioning – including, but not limited to:
    • Commissioning HAZID
    • Pre-Start Safety Review (PSSR) and handover to operations.
    • Daily pre-start / toolbox
  • Manage project interfaces, priorities and competing demands across Engineering, Construction, Operations, HSE, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide input during design and construction to ensure operability, maintainability, and commissioning readiness.
  • Establish and maintain commissioning governance frameworks, including stage gates, assurance processes, and minimum documentation requirements aligned with LMS Energy standards.
  • Provide independent assurance that commissioning activities meet defined quality, safety, and technical standards prior to progression between project phases and final handover.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations, and relevant regulatory requirements throughout all commissioning phases.
  • Lead commissioning readiness reviews and formal sign-off processes, ensuring all systems, documentation, and competencies are in place prior to start-up and handover.
  • Monitor and report on commissioning performance, risks, and key milestones to senior stakeholders, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Provide input into key technical documentation including P&IDs, control philosophies, shutdown logic, and cause‑and‑effect matrices.
  • Demonstrate strong safety leadership, managing high-risk activities such as hazardous energy isolation, first gas, first energisation, and live plant commissioning in compliance with LMS Energy Health, Safety and Environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate generator compliance testing, grid energisation approvals, protection systems, metering, and permission‑to‑operate
  • Verify commissioning completion and performance against contractual requirements.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning records, punch lists, non‑conformances, and completion dossiers
  • Lead operational readiness and structured handover (including PSSR) to Operations and Asset Management.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in commissioning, operations, or delivery of industrial process plant and equipment.
  • Engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or related discipline (desirable) or Senior Tradesperson with demonstrated technical competency in commissioning complex plant.
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning and/or construction of biogas, Renewable Natural Gas, Oil and Gas and/or electrical generation plants.
  • Commissioning or project management training is desirable
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple work fronts and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Australian Drivers Licence
